Morning Fragments

The awakening light
As night
Becomes day
Dreams are chased away
By the screams of cats
And birds
And possums

Retrogress

As dreams
Hold their sway
Once again

The day waits for no one

Second awakening
Into full light
The heat
And noise
The music
The cars
The voices calling
All crowd out
The remnants
Of night’s dreams
Those illusive schemes
The tales
The mind tells itself
While the world sleeps

Captured quickly
With a pen

For if not
Remain lost forever
To a fragmented reality
