Transformation

Without rain the world turns brown. The sun beats down relentlessly, sucking every drop of moisture from the earth.

Street of scorched front lawns

Grass hibernates beneath soil

Cicadas rain call

When the rains come the land floods. The wind roars, trees fall, rivers and streams overflow, spill out over the land.

Parched earth drinks deeply

Drunken trees stagger and fall

Green frogs sing for joy

After the rain the earth is transformed. Amongst devastation the grass again grows under the sun’s warm gaze.

Endless green front lawns

Loud chorus of lawn mowers

Earth’s audible sigh
