Skinked

Garden_skink

Once upon a cloudy Wednesday morn, a woman opens up her garage door. A small lizard slips inside, settles under the car.

Poke round wooden pole

Cautiously under the car

Panicky lizard

Panicky lizard

Slithers quickly under tyre

Driver’s dilemma

Not wanting to squish the lizard she applies logic to the situation, filling a can with water.

Sudden rain deluge

Lizard hangs on for dear life

Garage floor all wet

Garage floor all wet

Arm yourself with leaf blower

Blast the lizard out

Only, it withstands the cyclonic forces. Begrudgingly giving up, the woman slowly backs out the car, refusing to look for a small skink body. Until…

Tiny lizard waits

For the storms and car to pass

Safe and sound alive

Safe and sound alive

Carefully carried outside

Driver’s happy heart

  1. Now why didn’t I think of that…lizards and garages and sleeping under the wheel…what is the attraction I wonder?? Funny little fellows… Like the repetitive lines in the haiku… 😉
