He could’ve sworn
His pet mouse
Mike
Had suddenly sprouted wings
Bum up in his teacup
Tail testing the breeze
And the barest glimpse
Of opaque wings
Fluttering like a moth’s
Upon his back
He rubbed his eyes
Yes! They were still there
He really must give up absinthe
Become a sober
Teetotaller
As soon as Mike
Left the teacup
Tested his wings
Flew
Away
Perhaps
Today
Hooray
Hooray
Hoo
Ray
