Permanent Hibernal

Southern tales
As told by elders
Of hibernal tribes
Locked in the permanent freeze
Of Antarctic winter
Enthralled by stories
Of Hump-backed Whales
Emperor Penguins
And frozen Giants
Of times before the dreaming
Children play upon the ice
Play ball games
With the dying sun
Laid low on the horizon
Ice Giants gone bowling
In these pre death days and nights
The humans witness
A solar system hanging on
To the last threads
Sung into being
So long ago
Before the Giants melted
Formed the seas which
Gave life to this hungry world
Sadly the darkness
Now eternal
A permanent hibernal
Begins to hatch
A brand new batch
Of Giants of the ice
The time of Man
Has now gone
