Sunday Sketch 73 by Terry Whidborne

Her name was Leonora
Leonora Filigree to be exact
She had nineteen brothers who
Refused to let her act
All she’d ever wanted
Was to try out for the stage
They thought she should be more of a lady
Certainly start acting her age
So she secretly built herself a bike
From bits of old banisters and prams
Whilst her brothers took a hike
She set off on the lam
Alas for her she’d worn a dress
Bystanders thought as they cleaned up the mess
If only she had worn her bloomers
She wouldn’t now be flirting with deathly rumours
