Barriers to Poetry

Blindfolded by a fear most profound

The devils in my mind bash against

Barriers chemically designed

Screaming in indignation

At the dreary pap written

In their name

I yearn to let these devils out

Watch them fly wide and free

Tell me tall tales of beguiling danger

Watch them soar to heights I’ll never reach

Stuck behind this barrier chemically designed

Frustrated I still write knowing

These faded words will sit and mould

In the eleventh level of hell

Where imagination is ironed out

Poetry devils in the details

Starched

Stiff

Flat
