Bluebelle’s Dream

Dreamland by Alice Pike Barney

with her eyes

closed to the earth

she lay back

under the stars

her mind wandering

through time

she felt the pull

of planets

who’s lights still shine

though they had disintegrated

long ago

how like me

she thought

are these

astral bodies

elements held together

by energy

and the forces

of magnetism

for am I not built

of the same atoms

merely spied through space

in different form

soon she slept

under the reflected glow

of the moon

her dreams of

other universes

and all the light

disappearing down

the hungry mouths

of black holes

she dreamt of what was

on the other side

A Trio of Tanka

Starlight dot to dot

Arc across the nighttime sky

Glittering snail trail

Celestial artistry

Imaginary crayons

Cross the bridge from night

Dance in early morning light

Shimmering rainbows

Coloured flutter of winged dreams

Lorikeets gossip and fight

Voluntary sigh

Choosing to weep for this earth

Destructive humans

All encompassing chaos

Age of new Aquarius
